Handmade decorative piece using a specific kind of wild rush found in the swamps along the beaches in Salento that the Artisan handpicks respecting seasonality, availability and lunar cycles.
The rushes are joined with the same thread that fishermen use for their nets, one link binds, the other tightens.
This particular craft is among the ones that is disappearing fastest. The wild grass is increasingly scarce due to severe climate change and artisans are disheartened by the effort, time and energy it demands, which unfortunately isn't valued enough.
